Pocket Purses

Description

Ever since I started knitting, I've always been told that gauge is important. But frankly, who wants to bother with making a gauge swatch? I'm always just too eager to start the project. I never bothered with gauge and all my hats and scarves were fine... until it wasn't. XD After making a hat fit for a giant, I decided to do a little experiment of my own. Using the same size needles and the same pattern, I made the pocket purses you see above. My conclusion: gauge is important! I still don't make gauge swatches though. Too much work!

Edit:As Kimmy pointed out, I didn't actually explain what gauge is. Gauge is a way of measuring the size of stitches. It is important that the size of stitches in the pattern corresponds to the size of stitches in the project so you get the right size sweater or whatever you're making.

I also did an experiment with beading. On the back of three of those there are beads. I used a different style for each. The only one that turned out half-decent is the white one. (You can't actually see the beads on the other two- they didn't turn out very good!)
